Occasionally Fann Contracting, Inc. offers open registration(1) to local businesses for some of the following classes. Class fees range from $20 to $50 per attendee, dependent upon number of students enrolled and the type of training. Fees include breakfast snack, light lunch, beverages and class materials. Class size is limited and attendance is on a first come, first served basis. Please call us at (928) 778-0170 for more information.
All employees are encouraged to participate in the following training offered. Certain classes are now required, along with skill, in order to advance to the next pay level (see reverse side). Classes may be cancelled if not enough employees enroll. Classes designated below with an (*) are now required for all Core Group members and/or applicants.
Please note that if you enroll in a class and fail to cancel and/or fail to attend the class, you will be charged for the class. If you are working (and this is confirmed with payroll) the class fee will be waived. AZPDES and SWPPP Training Class ~ Saturday, February 11 ~ 8 am to 4 pm (Class held at Yavapai Title)
This class provides training in the AZPDES Construction Stormwater Permit process and its requirements. Participants will learn what a SWPPP entails, how to implement a SWPPP for a project, the different BMPs used for sediment and erosion control, the use and limitations of different BMPs, installation, maintenance and repair procedures for different BMPs, completing and documenting SWPPP inspections on projects, and much more. This class is recognized by ADEQ for PDH hours for those needing to renew their water certification. This class must be taken every 5 years.
Quantities & Yield Calculation Class ~ Saturday, February 25 ~ 8 am to 2:30 pm (Class at Yavapai Title)
In this class you will learn the formula and methods of calculating quantities of AB, AC, concrete, and bedding as well as volumes of pipe. In addition, you will be taught how to figure the asphalt yield on paving projects. This class will require you to bring a calculator. This class is open to all employees and is a required class for the apprenticeship program.
Traffic Control Supervisor Training & the MUTCD ~ Saturday, March 10 ~ 8 am to 2:30 pm (Yavapai Title)
This class consists of traffic control safety for those employees who may be assigned to set up and tear down traffic control for a project. The class also includes training in traffic control plans, evaluating problems with traffic and how to handle them, correct procedures, set up and removal of TC devices as well as training in the MUTCD.
Construction Survival Class ~ Saturday, March 10 ~ 8 am to noon (Class held at Fann Shop)
This is a mandatory class for those charged with an accident by the Safety Committee. Class must be taken within 90 days of your charged accident. This class is open to all employees whether or not they were charged with an accident.
Adult First Aid and CPR ~ Saturday, March 17 ~ 8 am to 2 pm (Class held at Yavapai Title)
This class covers general CPR and First Aid and is recommended for all employees. Attendance is limited and is on a first come, first served basis. Recommended renewal for CPR is every two years.
Defensive Driving Class ~ March 24 ~ 8 am to 2:30 pm (Class held at Yavapai Title)
This class teaches participants defensive driving techniques to help them become safer drivers, what actions can contribute or lead to accidents and how to avoid them, safe and unsafe driving habits, and how looking and planning ahead can help reduce one’s chances of having an accident. This class is a nationally recognized National Safety Council defensive driving class. Participants could save up to 20 percent on car insurance as most insurance companies offer discounts for drivers having this class. This class is required for all employees that drive any company vehicle. In certain cases employees may enroll their teenage drivers for a very nominal fee.
